　　Pharmacologist Tu Youyou has become the first scientist on themainland to win America's respected Lasker Award for her discovery of anew approach to malaria treatment。

　　藥學(xué)家屠呦呦由于青蒿素的發(fā)現(xiàn)和在治療瘧疾方面的杰出貢獻(xiàn)，成為中國大陸第一個贏得拉斯克獎醫(yī)學(xué)獎的科學(xué)家。

　　The Lasker Awards are given annually to people who have made majoradvances in the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure and preventionof human diseases since 1945.

　　自1945年以來拉斯克醫(yī)學(xué)獎每年頒給在研究、診斷、治療和預(yù)防人類疾病方面做出卓越貢獻(xiàn)的人。

　　Lasker Awards are known as "America's Nobels" for their knack ofgaining future recognition by the Nobel committee. In the last twodecades, 28 Lasker laureates have gone on to receive the Nobel Prize,and 80 since 1945.
