  dismiss、sack、fire

                                                          佳中

這三個(gè)動(dòng)詞都可表示“解雇”、“開(kāi)除”的意思。

dismiss  “開(kāi)除”、“解雇”，正式用詞，語(yǔ)氣較平和，一般只有從上文才

  能看出解雇的原因或理由。

1）The manager dismissed his secretarybecause of her incessant chattering.

              經(jīng)理把他的秘書(shū)辭了，因?yàn)樗蠂Z起來(lái)總是沒(méi)完沒(méi)了。

2）She was dismissed from her post forbeing late often. 

              她常常遲到，所以被解雇了。

3）In consequence of your bad work I am forced to dismiss you.

4）The bossthreatened to dismiss himfrom his job, but it's all a bluff.

sack  與dismiss  同義，用于口語(yǔ)，是俚語(yǔ)（相當(dāng)于漢語(yǔ)中說(shuō)“炒魷魚(yú)”）。  

1）One of theemployees in our office was sacked fordrunkenness.

2）Avram did a great job, butthey still decided to sack him.

3）If theforeman catches you lying down on the job he'll probably sack you.

4）The coach sacked Joe because he nevercame to practice on time.

    1）You must work harder,otherwise, you will getthe sack.

    2）One day, Tom's boss told him notto be late again, or he had to get the sack.

    4）He would have to be careful not to offend the boss, who could give him the sack at

          any time.

fire   口語(yǔ)用語(yǔ)，指斷然地突然解雇，多見(jiàn)用于美國(guó)英語(yǔ)，語(yǔ)氣比 dismiss 

             強(qiáng)。 

    1）He fired his clerk one day in a bitof anger, but the next day he called him back.

           有一天他憤怒之余將雇員開(kāi)了，不過(guò)第二天他就打電話讓他回來(lái)

     2）She was fired for spending too much timechatting on the phone.

    4）According the Law of Labour, bosses can't fire workers at will any longer.
