武一杉的作品展現(xiàn)了其具思辨性的繪畫追求，以及深沉而敏銳的畫面掌控力。畫面的各種細節(jié)及形象富有想象力，已經(jīng)跳出了自然主義的范疇。作品呈現(xiàn)出的力量感是近年來工筆作品中少有的。

我一向主張，現(xiàn)代中國畫創(chuàng)新，如果精神內(nèi)涵是現(xiàn)代的，藝術(shù)語言就應(yīng)堅持傳統(tǒng)，否則很難避免異化為西畫。反之，精神內(nèi)涵是傳統(tǒng)的，藝術(shù)語言就應(yīng)現(xiàn)代化，否則難與古畫拉開時代距離?！秴s·空》一畫正合此理，所以具有與時俱進的當代性，沒有停滯在十字路口。
