Led by architect Norman Foster, Foster Partners has designed One Hundred East Fifty Third Street with special regard for the neighboring Seagram Building, carefully attuning similarities and contrasts to the landmark office tower. One Hundred East Fifty Third Street’s curtain wall provides a counterpoint to the Seagram Building’s palette of bronze hues, and its faceted east and west facades further distinguish the new icon from its famous predecessor. Meanwhile, the relationship between the 63-story skyscraper and its nine-story base is melodious, evoking the elegant shapes of the Seagram Building.

One Hundred East Fifty Third Street is a work of holistic design by Foster Partners, which has been given the rare opportunity to craft the building's residences as well as its exterior expression. Homes inside the 63-story tower stunningly integrate architecture and interior design.

From within, the tower's pleated facade appears as uninterrupted series of bay windows, and these seemingly infinite glass planes bathe interiors in diffuse sunshine and provide multiple angles from which to view the New York skyline. Foster's design further accentuates a sense of soaring volume, with 11-foot ceilings as well as gracious layouts that are optimized for entertaining. An exquisitely detailed, timelessly appealing palette of matte-finished white oak, natural stones, and bronze culminate these studies in lightness and delicacy.

The lofts at One Hundred East Fifty Third Street form a special collection of residences. Foster Partners conceived the lofts as authentically creative spaces, in which bold openness and raw structural expression encourage diverse ways of occupying the space.
