Every city has a pedestrian street that records its commercial track and history.
In Guangzhou, it is Beijing Road.
廣州是一座有著二千二百多年歷史的商埠，素有“千年商都”的美譽(yù)。
Guangzhou is a commercial port with a history of more than 2200 years. It is known as the 'Millennium merchant's capital'.
據(jù)史志載，北京路自隋唐以來一直是廣州城的中軸線。早在唐朝年間，這里已是三街六市，街道兩旁商鋪林立，過往商隊絡(luò)繹不絕，馬蹄聲陣陣，人聲鼎沸。
According to history, Beijing road has been the central axis of Guangzhou since the Sui and Tang Dynasties. As early as the Tang Dynasty, there were shops on both sides of Beijing road, lanes and markets extended far beyond here.
不久前，考古學(xué)家在北京路段發(fā)現(xiàn)的古道讓我有幸窺見了北京路前身的模樣。
Not long ago, archaeologists discovered the ancient roads that had been built here, which gave me a glimpse of the appearance of the predecessor of Beijing road.
漫步北京路前端，低頭可見玻璃路面下積淀的層層古道，在距離路面半米至3米的空間里 – 民國、明、宋、南漢、唐代的軌跡層層疊疊，近在咫尺。
Walking on the front end of Beijing Road, layers of ancient road can be seen under the glass pavement. In the space of half a meter to 3 meters from the road surface - the track of the Nationalist era, Ming, Song, Southern Han and Tang Dynasties, is close at hand.
歷經(jīng)滄桑的北京路，如同老廣州人手心里一道道深深的掌紋，記錄著這個千年商都的歷史。
The vicissitudes of Beijing Road, like the deep palm prints in the palm of an old Guangzhou person, records the history of this millennium commercial capital.
隨著時間的推移，昔日商道早已化作地下的古跡。光陰改變了北京路的面貌，卻沒能改變它在廣州的商業(yè)中心地位。
With the passing of time, the old city center roads have long been turned into an underground monument. Time may have changed the look of Beijing Road, but its position as a commercial center of Guangzhou has remained.
全長400多米的北京路商業(yè)步行街共有大、小商號600多家，在這里，你可以尋覓到各式各樣的正宗老廣州美食：牛雜、豬腸粉、艇仔粥，也可以任意買到性價比極高的休閑服飾。
Measuring a total of more than 400 meters, Beijing Road commercial pedestrian street houses a total of more than 600 large and small businesses. Here, you find a variety of authentic old Guangzhou food: the beef offal stew, steamed vermicelli rolls or congee. You can also buy very cost-effective leisure clothing.
北京路既有上百歲的老字號，也有從英文Store直接音譯過來的士多便利店。巍然屹立在北京路與中山五路交界處的廣州新大新百貨大樓里，你可以買到各款中西大牌子的服飾。
At Beijing road, you run into century old local brands, as well as convenience stores. Standing in the cross-junction of Beijing road and Zhongshan Wu road, Xindaxin Department Store offers you a variety of Chinese and Western brands.
新與老的傳承與交替成為北京路的新陳代謝。
The inheritance and alternation of new and old becomes the metabolism of Beijing road.
雖然歷經(jīng)千年，這條古道喧囂依舊，在現(xiàn)代都市的流光溢彩中綻放著它古老而年輕的活力。
Though thousands of years old, this ancient road is still busy and bustling. It breathes its ancient and youthful vitality into the multi-colors of modern cities.
隔了多少代，坊間依然流傳著這樣一句話：“不到北京路，不算到廣州?！?/span>
How many generations have passed and this saying remains: 'Have you not been to Beijing road? You have not been to Guangzhou!'
