5 Characteristics Of A Successful Athletes' Mindset
Mindset is everything!
Please engrave that statement into your brain. I believe it is the X-factor which can be the difference between failure and success.
How you perceive the world is the end product of your mindset. Your mindset is a true reflection of you as a person. Powerful isn’t it?
Here are the 4 Characteristics of a Successful Athletes' Mindset:
1. Persistence
2. Clear-sighted
3. Self-determination
4. Vulnerability
5. No Regrets
Persistence
Persistence is the human quality of never giving up, always trying to move forward and continues regardless of any setback. To endure until the end, keep going after your goal/objective even when it seems almost impossible and everything is going against you.
Clear-sighted
Regardless of what race you are running, having the clarity to be honest and real with yourself will prevent you from under or over estimating your ability. Be confident in your mindset but always assessing your strengths and weaknesses.
Self-determination
Self-determination is all about staying hungry and wanting to improve. If you practice this notion, you will become an internally motivated person who will not seek to improve for any external reasons, but truly for 'me, myself and I'.
Vulnerability
You may think being vulnerable is a weakness, its actually the opposite. Being vulnerable allows you to take risks and learn from your mistakes. It means that you are out of your comfort zone - in otherwords, growing. Vulnerable people are people who are not afraid of failure, as they realise you learn more from a failure than successes.
No Regrets
All successful athletes have no regrets. They rarely beat themselves about wishing they had trained more for a specific event. Instead, they reassess and see where they could have improved throughout the whole process. Live your life always asking yourself: am I doing everythingI can to achieve my goal right now?
The above characteristics have been powerful forme in the past and I would like to encourage you to try and practically apply this in your life. I would love to hear your thoughts :)
